Nice Weekend Cleveland Fans

Pardon my bias, but it was a wonderful weekend for Cleveland sports…the kind of weekend a suffering fan of the sports’ teams in this city needs to sit back and enjoy for what it’s worth. And while it certainly isn’t the ultimate achievement (winning a championship), it’s worthy of celebrating, because not all weekends go this way. Let’s sum up the games for you:

Friday early evening: Indians 11 Twins 6 – The Indians got their second series (also their home opener) off to a great start by clubbing the Twins with 11 runs in the fog. Casey Blake, a guy that I have bad-mouthed off and on as an Indians’ regular, kicked some ass and took some names against his former club by hitting a Grand Slam to help propel the Tribe to a win. I’m extremely impressed with the start that Blake and Aaron Boone have gotten off to.

Saturday afternoon: Cavs 108 Nets 102 – LeBron James….WOW. It looked like the Nets were going to pull away from the Cavs in the first half, but once again…LeBron took over and helped the Cavs get another victory. What made it so nice is that they ended the 14 game win streak of the Nets and they beat that little bitch Vince Carter in the process. Excellent work boys.

Saturday early evening: Indians 3 Twins 0 – The Tribe shutout the Twins thanks to a nice pitching debut by former Tiger Jason Johnson. If this guy pitches even remotely good as his first start indicated, we’ll forget about the man of all men…Scott Elarton. Shutting out the Twins wasn’t that hard last year, but I think their offense will be much better this year so it was nice to get a shutout against them. The Tribe continue to roll, unlike last year.

Sunday afternoon: Indians 3 Twins 2 – The Indians handed Johan Santana his second loss in as many starts to start the 2006 season as an Eduardo Perez HR and a goofy Aaron Boone double ended up being all the scoring the Tribe needed to get their 5th straight win. How sweet it is!

Soak it up Cleveland. It’s a long baseball season, so this won’t last forever with the Indians. PLUS…what a win for the Cavs! If only the Steelers would move to LA or something to top it off.
